
Sr Anthea Groves

Sr Anthea Groves was educated by the Sisters of Mercy in Tumut. She completed her education and worked locally until she commenced her Nurses training at St Vincent's Hospital Darlinghurst, which she completed in November 1960.
Sr Anthea joined the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity in 1962 and returned to St Vincent's Hospital (SVH) in 1964.
She did the first Intensive Care course at SVH in 1966, left to do her midwifery at the Queen Victoria Hospital Launceston Tasmania in 1972. She has her licentiate in Hospital Administration and Diploma of Nursing Administration.
Management positions have included St Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne, St Vincent's Public Hospital Melbourne and St Vincent's Hospital Toowoomba.
Sr Anthea was Health Surveyor for the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards for over 20 years, finishing in 2004.
Currently she is at St Vincent's Hospital, Darlinghurst working as the Patient Liaison Officer. Sr is also a Board Director of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
In 2010 Sr Anthea was awarded with a Medal of the Order of Australia for her services to nursing and to St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst.
Affiliated associations include -President of the St Vincent's Graduate Nurses Society, Host of the Annual Guild of St Luke's Memorial Mass and Dinner, Co-host of the Alumni Association Annual Dinner and member of St Joseph's Hospital Ltd Medical Appointments Advisory Committee.
