Mrs Catherine Briggs

Catherine was born and grew up in the Charter Town of Altrincham, Cheshire, which is on the outskirts of Manchester in the north of England. She was educated at Loreto Convent, Bowden before gaining teaching qualifications at Hull University in 1971. She initially taught in her old primary school for four years before migrating to Australia.

Catherine has:

  • A Bachelor of Education,
  • A Graduate Diploma in Religious Education from the Australian Catholic University,
  • An M.A. in Theological Studies from the Sydney College of Divinity and has
  • Also studied counselling and has four Units of Clinical Pastoral Education.

Catherine taught at a number of schools in Sydney, before reducing her teaching hours to embark on Theological studies at Catholic Theological Union, Hunters Hill in 1993. In 1998 she graduated and began work as Coordinating Chaplain at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney until December 2006. She is now a part-time Chaplin at St John of God Healthcare, Burwood.

Catherine is a member of Spiritual Care Australia.

Catherine is married to Greg and together they are involved in family, local church and community events.
